The last century idea that tattoo's are linked to bad life decisions and gangs has long passed with younger generations accepting the idea of self expression through body art, whether it is something small in a private place on your body that means a lot to you, or whether it is full body decoration, would you ever consider getting a Tattoo? or do you still think there is still a certain stigma from the 20th century attached to tattoos? or is our society moving away from such ignorant assumptions? Most young girls have ear piercings these days, are we accepting of them?
Tattoo's are not just a form of self-expression, but can also serve as sacred reminders of culture, loved ones who have passed away and important phases in peoples life. Demi Lovato, disney star turned musician, has two Tattoo's across her wrist saying "stay strong" to remind her of her strength she had during a self-harm phase in her life. She has become a role model and advocate against for self harm and bullying. Is society moving towards a move accepting stance on this form of self expression or is society still bullying those who are different and try to express themselves?
Some religions and cultures including the Aboriginals of Australia and the Maori People of New Zealand have put a large emphasis on body art.
