Coltan Mining
Mobile phones use a rare mineral called Coltan in their electronic parts. Much of this metal comes from Mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This precious material has created volatile and dangerous living and work conditions for the workers and their families. There's fighting and deaths over control of these mines and workers are exposed to a radioactive material causing deformities in newborn babies.

To what extent are designers responsible for this situation?
