Death Penalty in Australia
The death penalty (A.K.A. Capital Punishment) is a legal process whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime. Capital punishment has in the past been practised by most societies; currently only 58 nations actively practice it, and 97 countries have abolished it, one of them being Australia.

Despite the outlawing of capital punishment by many nations, over 60% of the world's population live in countries where executions still take place. The People's Republic of China, India, the United States of America and Indonesia, the four most-populous countries in the world, continue to apply the death penalty (although in India, Indonesia and many US states it is only used rarely). Many people think Australia should reinstate the death penally. Should we do this?
It is proposed that Australia should reinstate the death sentence
