Many schools arrange their students into houses, which usually cross year levels & campuses. These houses were once the dormitories boarding students lived in (anyone here seen Harry Potter?), but few schools are boarding-only nowadays. So what are the houses for? Often they end up as an easy way to arrange sports contests, but they can be more. They could cover any aspect of student life. "House points" are often awarded for sporting wins; they could be awarded for participation as well, in any aspect of student life.
It is proposed that school houses should recognise academic & artistic achievement just as much as sporting effort.
